I was born in Sobernheim, Bad Kreuznach, Germany in 1950. I studied Physics and Mathematics at the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon in Monterrey, N.L., Mexico. After four years I decided not to become a physicist but rather a photographer having been lured to the visual world by Sam Haskins, Irving Penn and Brett Weston among many others.

In 1974 I returned to Germany, went through four years of studies at the Fachhochschule Dortmund and obtained a degree as a Diplom Photodesigner. I have been freelancing since 1979 mainly -but not exclusively- doing stills and product-photography.

The equipment I mainly use is a digital back which fits on the Hasselblad and the Plaubel and does up to 85 million pixel. When doing location work outside of the Studio I'm currently using a Nikon D800E.
